OSTEOPATHY FOR BABIES & CHILDREN

Gentle care for little bodies and growing families

For more than 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of caring for babies and young children.

As both an Osteopath and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), I bring together two areas of training that can be particularly relevant during the early stages of life.

My approach is gentle, individualised and focused on understanding your baby's needs.

There is no single treatment approach that suits every baby.

I take time to listen to parents, understand your concerns and assess your baby as an individual.

The aim is always to provide appropriate, gentle care while helping you understand what we are seeing and what the next steps might be.

Why do parents seek osteopathic care?

Parents may seek an osteopathic assessment when their baby or child is experiencing concerns such as:

  • Feeding difficulties, including challenges with latching or sucking

  • Irritability or difficulty settling

  • Excessive crying

  • Differences or asymmetries in movement

  • Flat or uneven head shape

  • Torticollis

  • Digestive discomfort

  • Wind pain

  • Constipation or difficulty passing stools

  • Concerns following a difficult labour or delivery

Osteopathy and Breastfeeding

My IBCLC training allows me to consider breastfeeding and lactation concerns alongside the physical assessment of mother and baby.

Feeding involves much more than simply the baby's mouth. Positioning, movement, comfort and the experience of both mother and baby can all be relevant.

My role is to provide appropriate support within my scope of practice and to work alongside other healthcare professionals when additional care is needed.
